Learn to Paint in Paris, October 2011
From the the 2nd of October, Protected content , each sunday join a painting course in La Miroiterie. Now an art school, it was originally built by Gustave Eiffel.
You can learn to paint in this private school in Paris. Within a short walk of the Bastille and nearby metro station, Ledru Roolin. It is at the end of a rambling, cobble stoned courtyard, oozing history.
The course will be very complete, covering:
Methods of drawing, painting, composition, perspective and understanding the effects of light. Preparitory studies. Painting using watercolour, oils and acrylic. Working with the human model, still life, colour theory and practice. Learning to manufacture your own mediums from pigments (oils, watercolour & acrylic).
You will be taught by Tom J. Byrne, an Irish artist based in Paris since Protected content . He's an enthusiastic teacher with 30 years experience as a painter.
The key to painting, is learning to see in different ways, then translating that into whatever style best suits you. Understanding how to represent the plains of space, perspective, line, shade, dept and tone. Colour theory and practice.
Learning about the mediums of the artist. The chemistry, materials, methods of applying mediums and preparing the surface.
These are the foundations upon which artistic expression, both abstract & realist, are built.
