living in les ternes (Paris)

Hello ! am moving to Paris early Protected content the office located in St Germain En Laye. Having lived in Singapore for 9yrs this could be a bit of a shock.. some assistance please:
- have been recommended Les Terne in the 17e as a good place to live. Any other thoughts inside or outside of Paris ?
- I enjoy sports so what is the best way to get into tennis, football, or any others that people have experience ?
- any indications for the monthly/annual RER/Metro cost ? My main commute if staying in the 17e would be Charles De Gaulle Etoile to St Germain En Laye.
