Paris in October

I am coming to Paris in October for 10 days, October Protected content , and it would be great to know if there is anything interesting going on and what to do around the city. I would also love to meet new people to do sightseeing and also going out for drinks or dinner. I was also thinking of taking a day or two trip and it would be great if anyone would be interested. I don't really know how to get around.
