On 14 October Protected content , in view of the deteriorating epidemiological situation in France, the French government has re-established the State of Health Emergency in France, which was lifted on 10 July.
*NIGHT CURFEW*
From Protected content , Saturday, 17 October Protected content , a curfew would be imposed between 9.00 pm and 6.00 am, in the Paris Region (including the city of Paris), as well as eight other French cities/metropolises: Aix-Marseille, Grenoble, Lille, Lyon, Montpellier, Rouen, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.
The curfew will be maintained for a period of four weeks at the first instance, but the government is considering extending it to 1 December Protected content .
As was the case during the lockdown from 17 March to 11 May Protected content , during the curfew period, only movements for reasons exempted from the curfew would be permitted.
*MOVEMENTS EXEMPTED FROM CURFEW*
[] Movements between the residence and working place or training/education institution
[] Medical consultations that cannot be postponed and when the option of telemedicine is not available; medical consultations for longstanding conditions, and purchase of medicines
[] Movements for essential family reasons, to assist persons in vulnerable or precarious positions, or to care for children
[] Movements of disabled persons and their helpers
[] Court or administrative summons
[] Performance of tasks of general interest at the request of authorities
[] Movements for the purposes of undertaking a long commute or voyage
[] Short movements within the radius of one kilometre maximum from the residence to attend to the needs of pets
*DECLARATION/ATTESTATION OF EXEMPTED MOVEMENT DURING CURFEW *
A declaration/attestation specifying the reason for movement in the prescribed format would be required, either in a physical or a digital copy.

*ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTARY PROOF THAT MOVEMENT IS EXEMPTED*
For some exempted movements, you may be asked to present documentary proof in addition to the requisite declaration/attestation:
- Those who need to work or travel during the curfew period would require a certificate from the employer, or a professional/business card (e.g., for health professionals and journalists).
- If you leave your home to travel or if you return from a station or an airport, you would need to have the train or plane ticket at hand.
Please also note that these exemptions from the curfew rule will be limited to 1 hour.
There will also be no exemption for exercises after 9.00 pm i.e. no jogging, no cycling, etc.
*ENFORCEMENT/FINE*
To enforce the curfew, 12,000 police and gendarmes will be deployed.
Please note that a fine of Protected content would be imposed for violation of curfew and/or failure to present a declaration/attestation. The fine will be increased to 1,500 euros in the event of the second offence, and 3,750 euros and six months imprisonment for repeated offences.
In line with the curfew, all shops and public places would be closed after 9.00 pm. Evening activities and festivities have been banned across France. Establishments providing emergency services such as healthcare or restaurants doing deliveries would be exempted.
Gatherings in both public and private spaces should be limited to 6 people at a table.
