West suburbs in Paris? city ?

Hi everyone,
we are moving to Paris next summer with our 6 years old, and I would like to find out what are the best suburbs in the west area with a sort of a vilage life ( market, few shops and restaurants) where you don't feel socially secluded. We are also considering living in the city (maybe Protected content though I hear different stories about how boring it is- or Boulogne Bilancourt) but I think it will be too tough with kids and dogs, unless you live by a big park. We will be trying to get our daughter into a bilingual school- I understand there are a few public schools offering immersion programs. Any ideas will be useful, many thanks.
