Living in Patras

Patras is one of the largest cities in Greece, forming a part of the Patras municipality, as well as being the capital of the Western Greece. The city is often known as ‘Greece’s Gate to the West’ because of its location, as well as being an important commercial hub for the city. Expats living in Patras will find that it is a lively city, which is popular with tourists and has a number of fantastic attractions to offer visitors and locals alike. This includes the Rio-Antirio Bridge, also known as the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge, which is famed for being the longest multi-span cable-stayed bridge in the world. Expats living in Patras can also enjoy visiting places like the Achaia Clauss Wine Factory and the city’s various parks, as well as take in many of the Ancient Greek monuments and structures which are located in and around the city. Patras has a diverse culture with plenty of theatre, arts and cuisine options, as well as hosting the annual Patras Carnival, one of the largest in Europe, every February.

Patras is a fantastic city, which can offer plenty in terms of scenery, entertainment, history and culture, making it a popular destination.
