Penang for 6 weeks

Hello,
My wife, Linda, and I have just arrived in Georgetown and will be spending the next 6 weeks in Penang. I am a Family/Emergency Medicine physician who has been out of work on disability (bad back) since last December and probably permanently retired now.
We have taken the opportunity to spend several months in SE ASIA, and have arrived here after 1 month in Phuket. We will be returning to Canada mid-January for my surgical appointment etc
We have never been here before and are quite interested in meeting people who know the island or just would appreciate some social interaction. Perhaps meet for lunch or dinner?
I have signed us up for the dinner on Saturday night and hopefully will meet some expats there.
