International school of dance DWC, open to enroll (Phnom Penh)
Dance Workshop Cambodia aims to supply the community of Phnom Penh with professional International dance classes, established in Protected content , and still going strong.
CLASSES offered for Term Protected content
Ballet classes will be geared towards internal assessments for students and based upon classical ballet techniques. Learning is designed to be cumulative and to develop basic technique and body alignments, which then are used to expand sequences of movements and steps the child can perform. Focus is on safe movement and strong technique. Ballet is the ‘backbone’ of modern dance. AGES 4-Adult
Jazz classes are designed to take the dancer through all facets of a modern dance class, with an energetic dance stretch, technical corner work and routine/ choreography in the centre. Jazz is a dynamic dance form and includes modern dance, hip hop, and commercial styles, a wide range of styles which will foster and nurture the student to express through movement. AGES 7-Adult
Body Conditioning class tends to start with an aerobic section, followed with either some Pilates and Yoga based work and finished by using things such as plies and small jumps to build more strength and stamina whilst drawing clear parallels back to dance. AGES- Intermediate and Adult
Contemporary introduces a mixture of Cunningham and Graham technique. Classes also involve creative improvisation with an introduction into contact work. AGES- Intermediate and Adult
Performances & assessments
The DWC Company performs each term. All students are requested to take part in our end of year concert (which is a lot of fun!) The end of term show gives the students the chance to show their parents and friends what they have learnt, and from this performance the students learn valuable lessons in confidence, bravery, goal setting and achieving, as well as trusting in themselves and their dance group. Assessments
(Ballet only) will take place at such a time that the teachers feel the students are ready, towards the end of the term.
