Phnom Penh Community College – January/February Midweek Art Workshops

January Protected content see the next PPCC series of evening workshops – this time on drawing. During these workshops, France Damon one of the most respected artists living in Cambodia, will take you on a journey as you discover the elements of two-dimensional art.

Session 1 – Composition
Composition is the placement or arrangement of the objects and elements of art on the page or canvas. Participants will explore the possibilities of composition and how to use them to express concepts and feelings in Art. Slide presentation followed by demonstration and practice.

Session 2 – Line and Shape
In the 2nd session participants will explore the elements of line and shape beginning with a slide presentation of examples of work where these elements maintain a special importance. Participants will then create drawings where these elements are used as the subject matter.

Session 3 – Light and Shadow
Light and shadow visually explain objects. In this session participants will look at how light (or lack of) defines objects and space in a drawing. Slide presentation followed by technical demonstration and practice.

Session 4 – Color
In this session participants will explore the color wheel, the color families, their relationships and the role of color in design. Workshop includes a slide presentation on the history of color in art and a discussion of color theory. Participants will practice mixing and combining color.

Phnom Penh Community College is located in the heart of BKK1 at The Capacity Specialists Training Centre (Cnr Streets 63 & 294, entrance on Street Protected content .

The workshops will be held on Wednesday 15 January (Composition), Wednesday 22 January (Line and Shape), Wednesday 29 January (Light and Shadow), Wednesday 5 February (Color), 6.30-8.30pm

The cost of the workshops are US$100 including materials. (50% paid on registration, 50% paid on the day of the first workshop)
