Creative Tourism: the new generation of Tourism
Reaching approximately 1 billion annual global travelers, tourism has begun to see the transformation of the tourist's profile. They are the visitors that are not content to only be a spectator of landscapes or the heritage preserved in museums and monuments. This “creative tourist” seeks the singularity and authenticity of the destinations so they can find unique experiences thorough learning opportunities. It is a new way of travelling that seeks to immerse into the immaterial world and the living culture of a place to feel part of the daily life of its residents.
The destination then discovers new activities that become part of the Tourism economy, and this increases the self-esteem of the residents. This is Creative Tourism, the new generation of Tourism - a variety that can be found in cities in the United States, France, Spain, England, Holland, Thailand, and other locations. Porto Alegre, the first Brazilian city to implement a structured program of Creative Tourism, along with a network of important national and international partners, is now introducing this theme in South America at the 1st Brazilian Conference of Creative Tourism.
To promote discussion, to share knowledge with the tourism market, and encourage the use of the practice in other destinations, the 1st Brazilian Conference of Creative Tourism will be held in Porto Alegre from October Protected content , Protected content with the presence of important national and international specialists. The event is open to managers and professionals from public and private tourist organizations, artists, academics, members of the press, and the community in general.
