Coming to Porto Alegre next week

Hello! I'm coming to Porto Alegre for 5 months next week (22nd July) with my boyfriend Nick (we're both university lecturers/researchers in Philosophy, and both from the UK). Really looking forward to it! We've got a flat in the historical centre, and I spent a couple of weeks there over Easter so have a vague sense of stuff. Would love to hear from anyone who's been there a while, especially with any tips about places to go and things to do. Hoping to meet people in due course too (once we've had time to settle in!).
