Why Doesn't Florianópolis Have It's Own Group? (Porto Alegre)

I've seen constant ads for InterNations on Facebook so I thought I'd check it out. I live in Florianopolis. Clearly, Facebook knows that and as such, so does InterNations. By virtue of that, they also know that many, many other people solicited on Facebook live in Florianopolis. Florianopolis is a major expat destination in Brasil. Why doesn't Florianopolis have its own group? I'm receiving invites for meet-ups in Porto Alegre. Does InterNations really believe that significant numbers of people are going to get in our cars and drive six hours for a meet-up? Doesn't make sense to me. The notion that Porto Alegre can serve as a functional hub for people from Florianopolis, Curitiba, or any city in Santa Catarina or Parana, demonstrates that the managers do not have a clear picture of the demographics in this area. If you really want this to work, start groups in Florianopolis and Curitiba. Easy to do. No brick and mortar required. My 2¢.
