International mail - receiving boxes through CTT (Porto)

Hello all. This is a novice inquiry, but –
We recently moved to Matosinhos Portugal from the United States. Two family members sent us packages – one from San Francisco and one from Hong Kong. Both are tracked and the tracking says ,“…your item is being processed by customs in Portugal.”
The US originated package arrived in customs on 16 April.
The Hong Kong originated package arrived in customs on 22 April.
Am I supposed to be doing something? Why is this taking so long? Is this customary?
I appreciate any insight anyone has to offer!
