Northeast India Festival at Grubshup: 28-29 July (Pune)

Hello,

More than a whopping 90% of Indians would not know much of anything about the seven exotic Northeast Indian states of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland (in fact, if they could even name them, that'd be surprising!). Recently, they have been in the news for all the wrong reasons: public molestation of a girl in Assam, Bodo violence in Mizo etc. But these states are some of the most exotic in terms of their flora, fauna, people and culture (because of their place influenced by China, Burma etc). Their food is also exotic with many spices and vegetables only locally available. The exoticness reflects in how it is cooked (fish wrapped in banana leaves) to WHAT is cooked (raw papaya cooked in the ash of banana rinds). The food is absolutely healthy and a lot of it is not very spicy.

To spread awareness about NE states, Grubshup is organizing many events on Protected content . A lot of food will be served, all ingredients flown in from the NE and prepared by Grubshup's head chef from Assam. None of the individual dishes is priced above Rs. 80! And many meal sets are priced from Rs. 120. The Grand Assamese Feast is an amazing package of appetizers, 6 varieties of fish, pork, duck, vegetables, chutneys, rice and dessert: all for a mere Rs. 350!

But that's not all. Grubshup always believes in packaging food for tummies with food for thought. An array of activists and NE natives will present on various topics about the NE: documentaries, talks, slideshows etc.

This is an excellent chance to learn about the NE: not just for expats but for Indians as well, and to feast upon some of the most exotic cuisine that even most Indians are not aware of. For more information about the food events, please visit: Protected content

The information about the non-food events (which also includes NE breakfast) on Saturday 10am, Sunday 10am, and Sunday 4pm can be found at:
