Fingerprints (Quito)

Hi everyone,
I need to take my fingerprints to complete a special form to send to a firm back in Canada so they can make verifications and get me a background check certificate for a visa request. Someone knows what I am talking about? This firm says on its website that I have to go to the police of the country where I am so they take my fingerprints and sign the form. Did anybody, Canadian or other, already did that? I went to a police station and they really did not know what I was talking about... If someone knows where I have to go, please, help me.
