New airport opening (Quito)

I am flying into Quito on 11 Feb. for a conference. I will then fly out of Quito to Cuenca then return to Quito on 20 Feb. I am told by a flight attendant friend that Mariscal Sucre airport will be closed and all commercial air traffic will be utilizing the new airport east of Quito in Tababela. I'm also told that it is very difficult to get to the new airport from Quito. My question: Is there a hotel in the vicinity of the new location I may avail myself of as I have a return flight to the US on 21 Feb? I saw several hotels/hostels south of the new airport on Google Earth. Any knowledge you may would be very helpful.
