I know this may seem intuitive if you think about it, but if you are going to a (or several) different countries in Latin America be sure to check the visa requirements before you travel. Even if you have an Ecuadorian cedula, work visa, etc. and depending upon your country of nationality you may find that some countries (such as Brazil) require you to have a visa for vacation or work before you even travel.
If you do not have this visa you will be turned away at the airport here in Ecuador and not allowed to even travel to whichever country. Some of these visas can be time consuming to acquire and require you submit to their embassy. Just a word to the wise, check before you make plans or buy tickets.
