Visa extentions?? (Rabat)

Greetings expats! What is the least expensive way to get to stay in rabat, morocco for Protected content days beyond the first free 90 days (7 months). I don't want to apply for residence permit but I want to stay another 4 months. Moroccan embassy states 11/15/14 visa for $25 will allow you Protected content after first 90 days. This is confusing to me because, I read about people having to leave for a day or so to the surrounding countries just to get another 90 days and the site said visa, not a residence permit. Can someone give me their most recent experience with extending their visa.
