What should I do and see in Riga?

Hi,
I'm an art teacher living in the U.S. traveling through Riga July Protected content , staying a hostel called Fun Franks. I have never thought about visiting Latvia, but I'll be doing a ceramic artist residency in Kecskemet before this, and I cannot move into my new apartment in Istanbul until Aug.1. (I'm going to teach art in Turkey next year!!!) Since Riga is on the way, I decided to hang out there for a few days.
Please advise me of what to do and see and what not to miss. I'd love to meet artists, see studios, museums, etc. Just whatever you can suggest, I'll check it out. Thanks, Laura
