OUR IDEA: To bring Easter to the children of Complexo Penha (Alemao)

HISTORY: Complexo Penha was pacified about 3 months ago in preparation for the Olympic Games. There has been a lot of devastation there and many children have been left without parents. There is both positive and negative feedback on the pacification there.

There are no medical facilities, no Doctor’s surgery, no hospital. The community is poor and the Education level in the schools is extremely poor. The community members don’t generally leave the Favela.

There is a lot of work which needs to be done in this Favela and we want to help.This is the first small independent project to try and help the community of Penha (Alemao).

We are not trying to Save the World, we just want the kids to have a Happy Easter!

We have organized a list of activities on the day such as Face Painting, Easter Egg Drawing, Giant Hopscotch, Dancing, Music and Easter Egg Painting. There is also going to be a wonderful Dream Competition to inspire the children to dream and they will ALL get prizes for their dreams.

We are trying to create a positive and wonderful event in this Favela. Every child deserves this happy occasion, despite the events going on around them.

Should you want to Volunteer your help, it is important to get in contact with Bel before Saturday 3pm to ensure transport can be booked for you.

WHEN: This Sunday - Easter Sunday
WHERE: Meet at Casa Do Caminho Language Centre (outside) Rua Farme de Amoedo, Protected content
Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Protected content
COST: 30 reais which covers transport there and back
TIME: Meet at 10 am at CDC Language School outside. The event will take place between Protected content . Should you wish to return earlier we can escort you to the Metro. Transport cost is fixed and based on your 'inclusion' and cannot be partially refunded should you go home earlier.
DEADLINE FOR PARTICIPATION: 3pm this Saturday

Please note, if you cannot participate but would like to assist in some way, we still require funding or donations of the following items:

GAMES TO PLAY
FOOD - SWEETS, CAKES, CANDY, POPCORN ETC...

ART SUPPLIES - SKETCH BOOKS, COLOURING BOOKS, COLOURING PENCILS, PAINTS, TEXTAS
FACE PAINTING SUPPLIES
DURABLE PAINTS TO PAINT THE CULTURAL CENTRE
