Rio Scouting- Neighborhoods and Real Estate (Rio de Janeiro)

Hello,

My wife and I will be on a scouting mission to Rio in July ahead of a possible move for my family (with our 6yr old daughter) early in Protected content Hong Kong. We're looking to fit in as much as possible in terms of learning about the different neighborhoods, suburbs, and areas as we look for places to live.

At this point we've only started looking in to what expat living in rio is all about so all guidance is appreciated. What neighborhoods or barrios are good and safe places for a young family to live in? What are some of the perks, and drawbacks?

Additionally, I was wondering if anyone knows a good real estate agent that may be able to help us look at what the rental housing market has to offer.
We don't speak Portguese (YET!) so English would be a huge plus if not a must at this point.

We'd also love to hear from folks who recently went through the process so we can start thinking about the right logistics, considerations, etc.
