What's (still) "uniquely Brazil"? (Rio de Janeiro)

Dear Cariocas,
Now that my Millenial daughter is planning a business trip to Brazil, where I spent a wonderful year as an ex-pat way back in Protected content , I sent her a fav, by now vintage, list of what's most "uniquely Brazilian."

It comes from US ex-pat Christopher Pickard's fun Insider's Guide to Rio, '87-9, and I've just posted his pithy commentary on each item as a 3-photo album on my profile @ Protected content . Check it out.

Wonder what an ex-pat now living in Rio would think is still true today -- almost 30 years later -- what's hopelessly out of date, and what to add from our 21st Century?
Tudo bom!
