HELP! Saudi and the E-visa (Riyadh)

Hi,

I am expecting for my employer in Riyadh to give me the number to apply for my visa from the embassy.
Does anybody know how this works nowdays?
Last time I was in Saudi I had to send my passport to the saudi embassy in London with forms and 2 passport photos of myself.
However, on the saudi embassy website for nairobi (where I am now based) and the london website there is no links to download the forms.
There is only an E-visa button?
Can anybody tell me if they have got rid of people sending passports to the office and replaced that with the e-visa?
and how does the e-visa work?
