Film & cocktail for free Wednesday at Auditorium (Rome)

You and any of your friends/guests/spouses are all invited to a free documentary screening and cocktail this Wednesday at 9 p.m.  at Teatro Auditorium "San Leone Magno", via Bolzano 38.  Details are pasted here below...  Italian actor Enrico Montesano will be a special guest of honor and the film will be in English and Hebrew with Italian subtitles.  You will find the details in the pasted invitation below, but in short, this is an event organized by both the Harvard Club of Italy as well as Prize4Life, a non-profit organization whose mission to fund research and accelerate the development of a cure against ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).  As Margaret Mead once said "Never doubt that a small group of dedicated people can make a difference. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

This is an event organized by Prize4Life, a non-profit organization founded by 3 HBS alumni class of '06, including our fellow club member Andrea Marano. 
Prize4Life's mission is to accelerate the development of a cure against ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) by offering monetary incentives to attract researchers and to stimulate the development of new cures. Prize4Life has established two prizes so far: ALS Biomarker Prize ($1 million) and ALS Treatment Prize ($1 million). Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York City, is among our supporters.

ALS is a disease that strikes the nervous system and kills the neurons that governs the central nerve system. The majority of patients die within Protected content after being diagnosed with ALS. The causes of ALS are unknown and there is currently no cure to the disease. In Italy, there are about 3,500 ALS patients and about 1,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. 

Prize4Life has organized an event which will be held in Rome on Wednesday 24th November, the purpose for which will be to create a greater awareness of this disease and to conduct some fund raising. 

A filmed documentary, "Beating Time", will be shown at the event. A trailer of this documentary can be found, and viewed at  Protected content . The film is in English and Hebrew with Italian subtitles and will be followed by a cocktail. The event is free and please RSVP to Protected content and cc Protected content .
