Lost items in a Rome Taxi

Hi, I know that it's a bit silly question but is it possible to find forgotten items in a Rome taxi. Unfortunately I don't have the number plate, I only remember the make of car.
in other words: Is there a kind of service by the municipality management for lost items ? or taxi companies just collect items in their own departments.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated...
