Moving to Rome

Hi Guy's
I am moving to Rome from England in August and was wondering if anyone knew all the hoops I may need to jump through.
I know I will need to apply for a residents permit, and let the police know I am staying in Rome while I wait for the permit to come through.

But how do I go about getting a doctor and dentist?
Is my UK driving licence OK for driving a scooter without needing to do extra tests?
And is there anything else I need to be aware of?

I will be moving in with my boyfriend who is Italian so knows how to sort out the rent and general housing issues, but he isn't able to help when it comes to knowing the legal issues and healthcare issues that I may need to consider.
