Questions about writing an Italian Will. (Rome)

I have been asked by many expats to provide a brief guide to Will writing in Italy so thought I would provide a short explanation here:

It is generally recommended that any expats owning a property or assets in Italy draft an Italian Will, firstly as part of the inheritance procedure any Will written in a foreign language would need to be professionally translated anyway. Secondly, by having an Italian Will you are taking away potential confusuon, difficulties and misunderstandings as regarding the Italian legal system. Don't forget that specific inheritance rights can be detailed in a Will (therefore you can specify who you wish your property to be inherited by) and the Italian Law does not recognise unmarried partners, cohabitants and gay couples (even married) if there is no Will. I hope this clarifies things for everyone who has asked!
