What should I bring to Italy? (Rome)

My husband and I are moving from the U.S. to Rome in the spring, and we are now trying to decide what to bring. Please, anyone, share your thoughts on the things you wish you had brought with you but didn't, and the things you brought but in the end didn't really need. Any suggestions are welcome, no matter how big or small! Thank you!
