Hi folks. After having been literally fleeced by A1, a word of warning: If you need a phone contract in Austria, you have to very carefully look at the small print in the phone contracts. Different to the situation in other countries, the phone companies won't let you out of a long-term contract easily. They also charge impossible sums for lifting the SIM-lock from an iPhone or similar devices. This is true for various providers, not only A1 - they just add a really bad service quality to the equation. If I had to choose again, I would buy a phone outright and then use a cheap pay-as-you-go solution, especially if your situation in Austria is not permanently secured.
