Transitioning kids into the Austrian school system (Salzburg)

Hello, We're contemplating a move to Salzburg but we have 8&11 year olds who are too young for the American International school but don't speak German... does anyone have experience of transitioning kids into the Austrian school system?... Thanks for any advice.
