German Wine Country (San Francisco)

Hello I would love some travel advice for Germanys wine country. I plan to visit Germany for 1 month for work and pleasure from mid april to mid may.

I would love to visit the wine country. As well as castles and black forest, What are the best towns for this, and do you recommend stopping in one town and tasting there, or driving from winery to winery? I would love to see the vineyards and countryside.

So far I've heard of Cochem and Baden-baden.
