I can't believe you were in SF and didn't ... !? (San Francisco)

Hello ! Appreciate tips for a Protected content , 9-day 1st-time visit to SF for a bday vacation during 1st wk of Aug.

Haven't finished research, but thought to ask for first-hand tips.

August weather: Protected content ? Chilly evenings ?
2 days in Napa? - check! Going to French Laundry restaurant. Any special tips for Napa?
Best place to stay in SF city: tho $ not a problem, good service/location, proximity to most important things to see, but rather spend it on discovering the city.
Food: we love everything, hoping to hit some Food Show celebs' spots. Any hole in the walls ? Best fish tacos?
Sights: I am bound to be trigger crazy with my new DSLR. Yes, bridge, mission, etc. Anything truly special/hidden ? Piers? Sailing? We know there's loads of walking involved, which *might* be a bit of a hassle from a futbol injury, definitely no hiking.

Special events: concerts...?
Best cheap/free stuff ?

Any 'I-can't-believe-you-were-in-SF-and-didn't' things to do/see ?

Will search IN events as well.
