Nice areas to live in the bay area? (San Francisco)

Hi there

We are originally from Scotland,currently living in Copenhagen, Denmark, but are relocating through work to San Francisco at the beginning of March Protected content . We need to find somewhere to live asap, but are unsure of which areas to choose. We are looking to rent a 2 bedroom property for 3 months initially, and we have a 2 year old daughter.

Can anyone reccomend a good area to live? Any advice would be most welcome. Also, are there any fellow Scots out there??!!
