Pleasanton - Bay Area (San Francisco)

Hi Guys,

Am not too sure whether this is the right forum for this - if not please feel free to tell me otherwise ;)

Am currently living in Perth, Western Australia with a potential move to Pleasanton (Bay Area) this is where I will be working mostly from

My question is around if I get an apartment in San Francisco and travel there on a daily basis, is public transport readily available and is it safe? or am I better off getting an apartment somewhere near the area?

for a single person is the night life in Pleasanton good or does it not simply exist?
