Canadian couple in 40's considering moving to CR (San José)

Hello
We both have corporate jobs but are starting to formulate an exit strategy. In the short term, perhaps purchase property, use it for vacations , and rent it and maybe, and in the longer term, retire to CR. We are in Toronto currently, have no children and are very serious. If anyone would be willing to share some information on the challenges/opportunities of relocating, that would be much appreciated. Ryan
