Considering moving to Costa Rica (San José)

Hi All!

My boyfriend and I are considering moving to Costa Rica in the near future for the better lifestyle (or so we have heard). We are currently living in Barcelona but are looking for a place were we can live comfortably financially and with a better quality of life.
He is a chef by profession and I have experience in childcare, administration, finance, among other things and I speak german and english natively as well as spanish.
We would just like to know what our work prospects would be if we moved there.
And is it more relaxed than in spain? Ideally my boyfriend would like to open hisss owm chiringuito. Is it difficult to get work permits and liquor liscences and such?
I have searched online but would prefer to hear other expats in Costa Rica.

Any information or opinions would be much appreciated.
