Costa Rica Legal Residency (San José)

Hello Everyone,

I have a residency question. I will be applying for legal residency in Costa Rica next year. Can anyone provide me with advice regarding the following: I have a German birth certificate with a English certified translation. I am currently living in the United States, as a naturalized U.S. citizen. Am I correct in that the German registry office in my German hometown must provide me with a current certified copy of my German birth certificate, which then must be translated to Spanish and provided to the Costa Rican consulate/embassy in Germany for authentication? I am able to obtain all the other required documents here in the U.S., however, I am not sure how to proceed with my German birth certificate being authenticated, translated and submitted to the Costa Rican consulate/embassy in Germany. Has anyone else been in a similar situation, and what actions did you take? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
