Journey to Costa Rica - Where to Start? (San José)
Hi all! I'm new here *waves*
My husband and I are in the VERY early expat planning stages and are wanting to take our first trip to Costa Rica in January. We'll probably have about a week there, and I'm looking for guidance in terms of areas to check out on our trip. I like the Nicoya area (I think), so I thought about flying into Liberia and taking a rental care to explore a town or two, but I'm just not sure where to go.
About us:
* We have two kids (4 and 1.5) so healthcare and safety are important.
* He doesn't want too rural (needs reliable internet to survive); I don't want too touristy (the point of moving is to experience a different culture). I think a place with other expats would be ideal, at least to start.
* Cost of living is a factor, of course. We are both IT folks and will likely find remote work, but part of the point of this change is to NOT be chained to a desk all day, every day to afford our life.
Any tips on towns or areas we should check out? Any places we should probably avoid? Thanks in advance!
