Visiting San Jose in late Nov for move later (San José)

Hello, I am retired at 64 and my wife and I are planning a 10 day visit in late Nov.
We want to get acquainted with the San Jose area, and rent a car to travel around and see what Costa Rica feels like.
Neither of us speak any Spanish, and we really don't know anyone there currently.
I'm interested in any opinions on how to plan such a trip, and things we can do and see.
Any contacts or resources would be very helpful.
Basically we want to see if Costa Rica could be a fit for our lifestyle. We like the convenience of city life, but also enjoy some seclusion. So being out of town a little ways is fine--we love nature and have 2 younger yellow lab dogs we would bring if we decide to move later.

Our income right now is from my social security at about $ Protected content month.
My wife is a native Ukrainian and proficient in English, and has a TEFL certification in teaching English. She also teaches Russian.
I'm a musician and play keyboards and do recordings of mostly instrumental. If you'd like a listed my website is Protected content

Any comments or suggestions about our trip are really appreciated!
Thanks,
Richie
