Importing Personal Items (San Salvador)

Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone would like to share their experiences/advice about getting their personal effects into El Salvador.
I have started working in Santa Tecla and should soon have my personal effects arriving. I have done everything that was required of me and recommended by my employer eg spanish inventory with values etc... but I have heard from colleagues of some nightmare stories of ridiculous customs charges; on the other hand I have heard from others of no problems at all.
So has anyone else got any experience or recommendations?
I have done a bit of research and things like "temporary import visas" and "Bank Guarantee" have been mentioned.
