Planning to Move to Santa Cruz-Need Suggestions

I will be coming to Santa Cruz, Bolivia in Feb’ Protected content with my wife for 1 year.
I would love to listen from you guys who are living in Santa Cruz about a things or two (About the city, Good neighborhood to live in, approximate cost of renting a furnished apartment in a good neighborhood, any specific thing to take care of).
All of you are welcome to pour your views & suggestions. Also is there any issue about the security in the town as I heard many protest happens in the city all the time.
