Santiago’s first Travel Tweetup – a new platform for Chilean tourism
In a sunny spot on Monday afternoon, the first ever Santiago Travel Tweetup took place, organised by travel companies Tripeezy and LetMeGo Chile. Travel agencies, tour operators, hostels and travelers were invited to join the tourism and networking event that will be taking place once a month from now on, aiming to generate a platform for communication between people who are dedicated to tourism and those who are promoting it. I Love Chile was there to help spread the word about English-speaking activities and tours in Chile.

The hosts of Tripeezy and LetMeGo
Tripeezy, one of the hosts of Santiago’s Travel Tweetup and founded by Paige Brown, is a start-up company that provides electronic travel guides that focus on local hot spots and non-touristy places, such as bars, accommodation and great city secrets. The second host, LetMeGo Chile, is one of the leading services in reservations for globetrotters looking for the perfect lodging for their stay in Chile.
Among the visitors were a number of tour operators including Ando Andes, who organize tours of national parks with an environmentally-friendly focus, Dream Ski Adventures by Gerry Winchester, offering guided ski holidays (for all levels of skiers) that also include city and wine-tasting tours, and Chilextremo, that organizes extreme sport activities like motocross and rafting.
But why not discovering Santiago and Chile on a green bicycle? The tours of the company Bicicleta verde, based on sustainable tourism, include city bike tours, a Bike and Wine tour and the Huachaca Tour, that explores the culinary tradition of Chile. Or you can trust your own Smartphone and be guided by iKwest from spot to spot with clues and hints through the city of Santiago. Arriving at a special point automatically generates a new task, aim or puzzle to do.

iKwest, Terra Extremus and LetMe Go Chile
Every Wednesday there is the famous party of Miercoles Po, a legendary night out a different bar, pub or club every week. The company Comunidad Po’ also offers tours, events and internships.
The first mobile tourist information service within America, Ask me, provides information near the main sights of Santiago by the means of two segways, a self-balancing vehicle. Close to where the tourists are, visitors can take advantage of their rapid access to information.
Members of the hostels Che Lagarto, Terra Extremus and the Hostal Dominica convinced visitors to the Tweetup of their openness and kindness, and of their strong will to make the traveler feel at home in their hostels and spend unforgettable vacations. As such, every Thursday, the Terra Extremus hostel invites Chile visitors to a Jueves Extremus where you can get to know new people, enjoy a free beer and just have fun.

The meet-up also offered information on the Chilean Ministry of Economy’s Start-Up Chile program, which aims to attract foreign, high-potential entrepreneurs to come to Chile to bootstrap their businesses with the end goal of converting Chile into the innovation and entrepreneurial hub of Latin America.
Finally, representatives from various tourism websites came along to the first Santiago Travel Tweetup. Among these were the chile.travel, the official webpage of tourism of Chile and southamerica.cl, that provides free information about Chile and South America.
