Hey everybody!
Our next get-together is going to be in January, so it is better to set the book now. What do you think? We have decided to read Persuasion, by Jane Austen.

"Austen was born on 16 December Protected content Steventon near Basingstoke, the seventh child of the rector of the parish. She lived with her family at Steventon until they moved to Bath when her father retired in Protected content . After his death in Protected content , she moved around with her mother; in Protected content , they settled in Chawton, near Alton, Hampshire. As a girl Jane Austen wrote stories, including burlesques of popular romances. Her works were only published after much revision, four novels being published in her lifetime. These are Sense and Sensibility Protected content , Pride and Prejudice Protected content , Mansfield Park Protected content Emma Protected content . Two other novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, were published posthumously in Protected content a biographical notice by her brother, Henry Austen, the first formal announcement of her authorship. Persuasion was written in a race against failing health in Protected content . She also left two earlier compositions, a short epistolary novel, Lady Susan, and an unfinished novel, The Watsons. At the time of her death, she was working on a new novel, Sanditon, a fragmentary draft of which survives. Persuasion tells the story of Anne Elliot, a woman who-at twenty-seven-is no longer young and has few romantic prospects. Eight years ago, she was persuaded by her friend Lady Russell to break off her engagement to Frederick Wentworth, a handsome naval captain with neither fortune nor rank. When Anne and Frederick meet again, he has acquired both, but still feels the sting of her rejection. A brilliant satire of vanity and pretension, Austen's last completed novel is also a movingly told love story tinged with the heartache of missed opportunities.
