Cell phone SIM card for tourists? (São Paulo)

Does anybody know if it is possible for tourists to purchase a SIM card (pre-paid, obviously) somewhere for their use while they are in Brasil? If so, where would they get one?
The only pre-paid that I"m aware of is with one of the companies (e.g., TIM) but that requires documentation and registration and isn't what they need.
