Do brazilians donate to charity? (São Paulo)

Hi Guys,

I was curious to learn more about charities in Brazil and their fundraising. I came across Rede Globo's Crianca Esperanca and was wondering what other large charities there are in Brazil and any major fundraising events they have?

I've also noticed that a lot of my Irish / UK friends are setting their own challenges (marathons / bike rides etc.) and fundraising online through Facebook etc for a local charity. Would brazilians do this kind of thing?

Any feedback or ideas would be much appreciated.
