Neighborhoods near University Sao Paulo (São Paulo)

I am moving to SP to work with the University and would appreciate suggestions for nice, interesting, safe neighborhoods that are convenient to the main campus. I have heard that PINHEIROS and VILA MADALENA are good options. Any others? I am looking for a large one-bedroom apartment. I would also appreciate the name of a realtor who I could work with.

Since my mom will be visiting often, can you suggest any hotels in thoes neighborhoods as well?
