Moving to Shanghai?

I have just been offered a job in Shanghai - teaching. I would love to know people's thoughts about living in Shanghai.

Is it easy to meet people?
Do people travel in China and around the region regulary and find it reasonable to do so?
Is there a good mix of outdoor actvtities with social aspects?
What should I be considering before I come?

I would love any honest and open comments to help make my decission.
