New arrival to Shanghai

Hello Everyone?

I am contemplating taking a new job in Shanghai. I have read multiple things regarding the beautiful city of China. However, I would like first hand information. So, how is the pollution there? Would I be able to live comfortably on a salary around $ Protected content $ Protected content ? What are the taxes?
