Possible move to Shanghai - advice

I am an Irish national, female, 38 years old.

I have had a couple of people revert to me in relation to job applications I have submitted to schools in Shanghai.

I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind helping me out.

I wanted to know:

What kind of salary should I expect?
How easy is it to get accomodation?
What are living expenses like?
What is the quality of life like?
Are the people of Shanghai open to foreign nationals?
Are there are expat groups in Shanghai?
How much of the language do you have to speak to start out there?
What are your experiences of learning Mandarin?
What is the food like?
What have people done jobwise after their year in China?
