Settling into Nanshang, SZ (Shenzhen)

Hello world,

I've just arrived in Nanshang, Shenzhen after a Chinese New Year spent in Hong Kong, and am beginning a new job in the area on the 18th. I had a lot of opportunity to meet people through a past exchange semester at HKU, but making the move across the border presents a whole new world, right?

I really want to explore Shenzhen, figure out some of the best little hidden food and culture spots, spend some weekends hiking or biking, and above all in good company. I'm happy to give any plans a shot, from business networking dinners to nightlife events big or small, movies and picnics (providing the weather!) to beach days and weekend trips. Most of all, I'm a lover of live music of almost any kind.

My Chinese is about intermediate at most for the time being, but I'm taking weekly classes and practicing regularly. I'd be interested in spending time not with just expats, but locals, too!

Here's hoping the good times here may give HK a run for its money.
